The film Boyhood was filmed for 12 years with the same exact cast. The director Richard Linklater’s amazing, touching and inspirational story is about growing up. And it’s through the eyes of a child named Mason. (Great job Ellar Coltrane), for the excellent acting and portrayal of Mason. When you start the film you get an instant connection with Mason and then you literally get to see this boy grow up on screen. Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette play as Masons parents.
Childhood can be rocky and many parents don’t get to see the “every moment,” because let’s be honest kids are sneaky. Boyhood rocked the charts for unravealing the messy terrain that childhood can have. The film really knows how to grab your attention, make you love the characters and feel for them as well.
The shots of road trips, graduation, family dinners, birthday parties and even family road-trips gives an opportunity to connect with the character. And they were all interesting scenes grabbing you with each aspect of creating a captivating movie.
The film is rated R (sexual references, teen drug use and alcohol use). It’s an excellent drama directed by Richard Linklater. It hit theaters July 11, 2014 and was released on DVD today. The movie is worth a watch and received 5/5 stars from us. We know a good movie when we see one.
And let’s be honest here, any film that took 12-years to complete has to be AMAZING and it was, so there you have it folks!
Boyhood made a whooping 24.3 Million in the box office. Do yourself a favor and go pick up a copy. The film is worth having in your home because it’s an excellent watch. And we know how to recognize
