“It’s so important to be gentle, patient and understanding with yourself during those hard times in your life. Whatever grief you’re feeling will pass and you will come out stronger than you were when it began.”
-Laurara Monique

Heartbreak of any kind can really tear a person to shreds—and every heart break sends us into a grieving process. Selena Gomez has been a stand out example of “strength.” It’s been a few months since she split from 20-year-old Justin Bieber. So many women in this world don’t realize their worth and stay in a broken relationship because they feel that’s what they deserve—when they don’t. I’ve seen my closet friends destroy their life over heart break. And it’s not worth it—at all.

Selena Gomez HeartbreakerOf course, every heart break comes with struggle. But Selena has been strong, determine to survive and I’m sure she’s hopeful for a good romance in the future. Whether it’s Zelena, Jelena or someone else we are so proud of her for staying strong, being an example to all the younger woman. It’s a subtle lesson for us to learn, if you don’t feel happy then you don’t stay because this is YOUR life. Selena opened up to V Magazine, stating:

“There were a few months where I was a little depressed, where I wouldn’t leave [the house] as much,I think I drove myself crazy for a little bit. It was just easier to say, ‘Hey, do you mind running to the grocery store and picking some stuff up, I don’t want to get photographed,” and she has been asked why the relationship was so meaningful to her, saying:

“I think the next time will be much different…which will definitely not be any time soon. That’s a growing up kind of thing. I was 18 years old, and it was my first love. The older I get, I’m guarding certain things more. After being put through the scrutiny, I understand what it is. When you’re young and you’re being told so many different things…it almost felt like all we had was each other, like the world was against us, in a way. It was really weird but it was incredible. I would never take it back in a million years. You live and you learn, you know?”

I couldn’t have said it better myself and we all never forget our first love. Selena Gomez might have been hurting but she’s a true example of strength. A celebrity isn’t determined by their bank account—it’s determined by who they are as a person and the greatness they bring to the table.

Selena girl you have so much strength, knowledge and your smart—I’m proud of the woman you’ve become. You know how to grab what you deserve and we hope that many others will take your example and never settle for anything less than happiness.
