Katharine McPhee teaches us about Hollywood headline lies!

Katharine McPhee doesn’t mind standing up for herself (and we’re glad she did because some of the headlines I’ve been seeing) are far from acceptable writing or news coverage. (I thought speculation was at least supposed to be interesting and not escalate into bullying and complete false information)? Either way, it’s been happening all over and now someone has taken one of Katharine McPhee’s quotes and misinterpreted it, suggesting she was ‘cheating on her husband,’ and she didn’t take to that speculation well, who would?

McPhee was recently on the cover for Ocean Drive magazine and the story wanted her to relate to her life on a professional and personal level. And she completely opened up about life saying:

Screen Shot 2016-08-31 at 4.00.33 PM“I feel pretty grounded. I got married really young, and then divorced, and in the last couple of years, I felt like, Wow, this is what I should have been doing when I was 20 instead of planning a wedding. But I don’t have any regrets. All of the choices I made I learned from in a really deep way.”

The New York Post took a huge step in speculating on her relationship as there was no mention to it and it’s pretty clear that she was referring to not regretting her marriage. And we’re glad she spoke up about the headline on Twitter.

It was just this morning when she decided to open up and tweeted to her family, friends and fans:

“For those who can’t take words at the their meaning and need to add meaning for the sake of your headlines…. Let me clarify once more…,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “In the @OceanDriveMag article the ‘no regrets’ comment is clearly referring to having ‘no regrets’ marrying the wonderful man I did marry,” (I thought it was pretty obvious) but she continued on saying “Anything that is being suggested otherwise is mean spirited & full of lies. I hope ur headlines were worth it.” She added, “Who else did I miss to call out? This will be all you hear from me now. Thanks. Spread the love.”

And I suppose that’s all you can do is “Spread the love,” especially when you have to wake up and read crap like that, isn’t there enough negative news in the world? Let us know what you think about the way she called out the media? Should talent be doing this more often?
