Sean E. Coopers Journey to FANTASY.
Ultimately, Sean was thrilled to tell Positive Celebrity about his journey to Fantasy.
“In a quick bit, I was working here in Vegas doing a couple of different things, Splash, and Legends, and I was a hip hop dancer, street dancer.
“Then Anita walked in ‘Hi, do you wanna audition for me?’ he laughed, continuing.
“No, and I was kinda pissed off, no, no… Uh uh, nope, I’m done, I’m putting up my dancing shoes up.”
Then comes a stranger friend (Gregory Hines) who wanted him to succeed much like his son, pushing him to get up on the big stage and audition.
“Then a guy kept hitting me and I’m like ‘what are you doing?’”
“Look at my son, he never gave, and he kept pushing me and I start looking at him and I’m looking at him and looking at the picture. And I’m looking back and forth Oh, oh, oh my god. Mr. Hines, oh my god, I jumped up and auditioned and I got the job.
Gregory Hines was an American dancer, actor, singer, and choreographer.
He acquired Emmy Awards and Tony Awards. Hines was “Ben,” from the hit tv-series Will and Grace.
Further, the year of 1986, he sang a duet with Luther Vandross called “There’s Nothing Better Than Love”, which reached the No. 1 position on the Billboard R&B charts
Despite almost hanging up those dance shoes, he pressed forward.
Wasn’t it Johnny Carson who shared this memorable quote?
“Talent alone won’t make you a success. Neither will being in the right place at the right time unless you are ready. The most important question is: ‘Are you ready?’
In short, Sean E. Cooper was ready, he shared a memory that truly made his career.
“And for comedy, it just broke out because a tape broke on the ship. And we’re dancing and she’s like ‘we need someone to speak, we need someone to say something because the tape broke and we can’t dance.’
Fortunately, Cooper was ready to entertain.
And I went up there and grabbed the microphone, my first impression was Sammy Davis Jr.” laughingly added “But it sounded like Marvin the Martian [gives impression].
On Sean E. Coopers Favorite impression
Improv, impressions, and comedy are a whole package deal. It truly does take time and practice to nail different personas.
“I do a lot of them,” mentioning Tina Turner. That’s a good one, I love that one, Sammy was my first… [gives an impression.] “
And then it went from there to a lot of crazy stuff,” sounding off with a doo-wop.
Our favorite impression was his Michael Jackson impression, he’s amazing, no doubt.
“But yeah, I love voices. That was one other thing that I used to do and then stand-up.”
On doing voice-over acting and his favorite superhero
Cartoons are always the best, regardless of your age.
With that in mind, if Cooper could act as a voiceover for cartoons, well, he’s down with the idea and shared his favorite superhero.
“Any Marvel, anything like that, any cartoons, any of that kind of stuff. Cartoons definitely. Any Marvel.”
On his favorite charities
Isn’t it safe to say, ‘charity is love,’ and that means taking action?
Lorena Peril, Sean E. Cooper, and all the girls spend a lot of time their spare time working with different charities.
According to David Magazine, they take a portion of magazine sales straight to charity.
“Each year in October, the show releases a themed calendar featuring FANTASY’s gorgeous gals in tantalizing poses.
Fans rush to buy the calendars (which can be signed in person by the ladies following each show) either online or throughout the Luxor.
A portion of the proceeds is donated to a different charity each year.”
“My personal ones are for breast cancer. That’s a big one.”
Charities FANTASY supports include:
- NSPCA, to help prevent animal cruelty.
- The Nevada Cancer Institute.
- Shade Tree.
- Opportunity Village.
- Heaven Can Wait
- The Girl Scouts
- Vegas Strong
- St. Baldricks Foundation
On Sean’s biggest influence.
“My mom is the one who taught me how to dance. She was pretty much the one with the personality too. Where I got the funny from…
Even though she was a stern person. She laughed all the time, she was really strong.
She was a single mom and she had to be strong on both ends. She is hilarious, I just lost her about a year ago.
The best lady on the planet, she had the best sweet potato pie too. That’s my heart.”
She was‘my funny.’ Beautiful lady.
My dad is the smarty, he’s the brainiac.”
Fun fact, Coops had a show called “The Coop,” at Planet Hollywood.
“I wanna get a few specials going, go on the road.”
