President and Founder Robert Redford is keeping things real for artists attending the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. And he’s making it very clear just how much he supports art and it’s creators, stating:
“Sundance began because I wanted to provide a natural setting for artists to develop their work, a place where they would be free from the distractions of daily life and encouraged to engage freely in the creative process. Many years later, this idea continues to yield impressive creativity and originality. The Sundance Film Festival is a showcase and a celebration of this kind of work. Each film you find here is a reflection of the artist who made it, of rigorous work to craft an authentic story in an original voice. Inspired by the courage and creativity of the filmmakers, I hope you will approach your festival experience as an adventure and a challenge to see the world through new eyes. My thanks to the filmmakers, to nature, and to our supporters for making it all happen.
Have fun. And be careful crossing the street.”
The Sundance Film Festival literally brings together the most diverse and creative people you’ll ever meet. They are story tellers with passion and fire in their eyes, ready to show the world what drives them to do what they love the most in life. And since 1985 there have been hundreds of films launched at the festival and they’ve also received some excellent recognition and even commercial distribution. It’s a great way for artist to come together, share ideas and hell, the people you meet today could be the ones you’ll be standing on stage with receiving your first Oscar. It all starts somewhere folks, all you have to do is get out there and make a difference.
And if you haven’t caught a screening or panel yet, get up there because the 2016 Sundance Film Festival ends on January 31, 2016. Get your tickets, see a showing, check out a panel and don’t above all, have fun, be safe and meet new people!
Blessed Be!
